Picky Eaters Therapy

Attention Picky Eaters! Let’s start exploring!

We have created our unique feeding protocol to help your child expand their food repertoire by addressing underlying oral motor and sensory weaknesses!

We use techniques such as food play and exploration and food shaping/chaining to help your child improve their eating!

That’s where feeding therapy for picky eaters can help! We build confident, brave eaters!

Is this type of therapy right for your picky eater?

If your child is experiencing:

  • Poor weight gain

  • Coughing or choking while eating

  • Difficulty accepting solid foods at 6 to 7 months

  • Difficulty progressing from purees to soft solids by 8 months

  • Unable to drink from an open cup or straw by 12 to 18 months

  • Limited food repertoire

  • Anxiety with new foods

  • Negative mealtime behaviors

  • Difficulty moving or chewing foods in their mouth

  • Frequently overstuffing their mouth

  • Gagging or vomiting

  • Extended mealtimes (anything past 20 minutes)

We Make Feeding Therapy FUN!

Eating is a whole body experience which requires coordination of the muscles, motor, and sensory systems!

Address underlying sensory, and physiological factors.

Improve acceptance of a variety of foods while decreasing refusal behaviors.

Identify and improve movement patterns of the jaw, tongue, lips, and cheeks through the use of repetitive muscle-based exercises.

Increase the child’s food repertoire in order to increase their caloric intake.

How We Approach Feeding Therapy

  • We consider the physical, medical, nutritional, developmental, learning, environmental, oral motor, postural and sensory factors involved in a child’s current eating abilities.

  • We focus on child-directed, family-centered feeding- what are your goals for meals at home?

  • We individualize the treatment plan for each child’s specific needs.

  • We educate caregivers on how to help children eat well.

  • We collaborate and update our learning on a daily basis to assure our program is top notch.

"Naomi Sutton at Brave Wings Therapy has been a godsend for our family. Our five-year-old daughter is the most extremely picky eater and Naomi has, through compassion, love, and play, earned the trust of Dina. It is taking a lot of time and patience, but through laughs and smiles (never forcing or any tears), Naomi has gotten my child to try new foods. We can't wait to continue the process with the other food groups in time. We can't wait to see what's next! Thank you, Brave Wings Therapy, for your help!"
