Understanding Infant Feeding Challenges
Feeding challenges can come from more than just latch. They often involve the entire body. A baby’s ability to eat comfortably depends on posture, breathing, coordination, and muscle tone.
Our therapists look at the full picture, helping families understand how oral function, body alignment, and sensory regulation all work together to make feeding calm and efficient.

What We Do at Brave Wings Therapy
Our infant feeding team includes speech-language pathologists and occupational therapists with advanced training in infant oral-motor and sensory development.
Every baby’s plan is individualized and may include:
Gentle oral-motor and suck-swallow-breathe exercises
Postural and sensory support for calm, coordinated feeding
Collaboration with pediatricians and lactation consultants
Guidance for the transition to spoon or solid foods
When needed, we also collaborate with trusted specialists, including ENTs, pediatric dentists, and lactation professionals, to ensure your baby’s full feeding system is supported.
Is Infant Feeding Therapy Right for My Child?
Your child might benefit from these therapies if they:
Pop on and off the breast or bottle
Make clicking or smacking noises while feeding
Become fussy, gassy, or overly sleepy during feeds
Have reflux or frequent spit-up
Struggle to hold a pacifier
Show body stiffness or a head-turning preference
Aren’t gaining weight as expected.
Feeding challenges can be stressful for both babies and parents, but early support makes all the difference.
YOU might also benefit from therapy if you experience:
Painful latch or nipple discomfort
Concerns about milk supply
Difficulty finding a comfortable feeding position
